What happens in Vegas -- stays in Vegas. Nothing could be truer when you're talking about the unique experience of golfing in Sin City.
While best known for its casinos, nightlife, bright lights and never-ending gaming, Las Vegas is also home to some spectacular world-class golf courses. There are no less than sixty-four golf courses serving a population of fewer than 1.5 million people. Thirty-two of these are semi-private, public or resort-style courses, while sixteen of the finest Las Vegas golf courses are reserved for members only. Within one hours' drive from the Las Vegas strip, you'll find thirteen courses and many specialized driving ranges. In all, an estimated 125,000 golfers can be accommodated in the Vegas Valley alone, about 600,000 golfers play golf here every year. This is an amazing number for a relatively small city. Obviously, golf is the major sport of Las Vegas.
In Las Vegas, it's golf weather all year round. Sunshine is abundant, and it rarely rains or snows. Throughout the course of an entire year, there may only be a few days that aren't perfect for a round of golf.
If first-class golf is your number one priority, you'll find it in abundance. Of course, Las Vegas accommodations are also second to none. Whether your visit is for business or pleasure, traveling with the family or for a romantic weekend getaway, Las Vegas has everything to offer. And, regardless of the purpose for your visit, you can easily work a golf package into your plans. Bear in mind that the increasing popularity of Las Vegas golf has resulted in ever-increasing green fees.
One of the best Las Vegas golf offerings is the Angel Park Golf Club. This daily-fee golf club is open to the public, and located just fifteen minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. The Palm Course and Mountain Course clubs, built in 1989 and 1990 respectively, are both home to highly acclaimed championship golf events. Another popular choice in Las Vegas golf is the Cloud Nine, a lighted par-three course built in 1993. Seventh Heaven is another favorite spot, with a lighted natural putting grass and a driving range. Inside Seventh Heaven is a southwest style clubhouse that features a full service restaurant, banquet facilities and a well-placed golf shop. The golf shop prides itself in carrying the latest accessories and equipment, as well as the finest apparel for men and women. The Seventh Heaven staff is always available to provide their customers with custom golf club fittings.
The latest addition to the city's series of excellent golf courses is The Falls, situated at Lake Las Vegas. The course, designed by Tom Weiskopf, offers a terrain of marvelous mountain and desert, with spectacular landscapes. The cascading man-made waterfall perfectly completes this fabulous golf course.
Professional and amateur golfers alike can enjoy the beauty and challenge of all of these Las Vegas golf courses.
With the booming impact of golf on Las Vegas, the American PGA granted the University of Las Vegas permission to facilitate a course for professional golf management. Anyone interested in this career can now study to earn a bachelors degree in Golf Management straight from Las Vegas. Students enrolled in the course are allowed to play for reduced rates at Desert Pines and Stallion Mountain Country Clubs.
No other city offers the unique characteristics and sheer volume of first-class golf course options that Las Vegas provides. For this reason, the adventurous golfer can safely say that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
