Best Sanibel Island Camping PDF Print E-mail
Sanibel Island is known as one of the world's finest natural playgrounds, making it the perfect choice for anyone who loves to get close to nature.

There's much more to Sanibel Island than condos, hotels, and resorts.  There is also a fantastic spot where you can stake your claim, pitch a tent, and get up close and personal with this glorious vacation destination.  Whether you choose to rough it with a tent and sleeping bag or cruise onto the island in a fully equipped RV, Sanibel Island camping is always a fun choice.

While camping is not permitted within any of the nature preserves or wildlife refuge parks, there is a state park called Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground that can satisfy any camper's needs.  This park provides both tenting sites and RV sites with full hookups.  Periwinkle is the only active camping site in the island of Sanibel, situated less than a mile from the Gulf Beaches.

Located on Periwinkle Way, this Sanibel Island camping facility provides full services and amenities for traditional tent campers, RV enthusiasts, and those with motor homes.  Hot showers, laundry facilities, picnic tables, and a pavilion all add convenience to the excitement of camping on Sanibel Island.  Restrooms, LP gas, and ice are also available.  Those visiting with RVs, trailers, and motor homes can take advantage of electrical, water, and sewer hookups.   Tent sites are nicely secluded, and shades are provided for your convenience.

No trip to Sanibel Island is complete without taking time to explore the many nearby attractions.  Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground is just a ten-minute walk to those white sandy beaches that Sanibel Island is famous for.  You can spend hours searching for seashells along the Gulf coast and swimming in the warm, crystal clear waters.  More fun can be found in nearby Sanibel, with golfing, tennis, shopping, and great dining, all within walking distance.

There's more beauty and wonder to behold right within the campground itself.  It's a bird lover's delight, with many exotic and native species on display in the campground aviary.  Here, you'll spot fascinating bird and animal species, including macaws and toucans, as well as brown and ringtail lemurs.

If you can't decide whether to spend your vacation camping in the great outdoors or relaxing at a seaside escape, maybe you don't have to choose.  Sanibel Island camping offers the best of both worlds, for a vacation you won't soon forget.
